Anyone have any advice on Grants for Students?

My daughter wants to graduate one year early out of high school next year and wishes to go to Harvard Law School. We have to start looking for Grants, Scholarships and Loans. Anyone have any advice to give?

I would suggest looking at what makes your daughter unique and then see if there are grants that address that.

Don't forget to have your daughter fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It's available at most libraries, and you can also complete it online. That's the basis for all the federal grants, so it's a good idea to get it in early.

FAFSA does help. I would check out what the school has to offer as well.

Is her heart set on Harvard? You might consider a smaller school, not so expensive, to get her undergrad work in, then transfer to Harvard for the actual "law" part.

Tell your daughter to talk with the financial aid office at Harvard and see what scholarships they may have available. I totally agree with SageMother that you should consider what makes your daughter unique. What is her heritage? Any special interests or talents? Religious affiliations that might provide a scholarship?

Good luck! I hope your daughter makes it to Harvard.

I would check out the financial office as well. Maybe some scholarship books would help too.

I took out a private student loan

Okay friends, my husband and I took out a private student loan before we quit our corporate jobs to go back to school for nursing. Now that I've been accepted to a school, I'm curious if mentioning this $30K student loan. I have a 4.0 GPA and am well qualified for scholarships in general, but I don't know how this financial factor plays in. Thanks for your help.
