Realtor

Realtors can be even pushier than the bank when you back out of a house deal close to the last minute. I have a friend who was lined up to purchase a home with her fiance and they broke things off about 3 weeks before the closing. Neither of them could afford it alone, and they had a bear of a time getting the realtor to back off. The bank simply said ok, when she told them she couldn't do it anymore. Her realtor called for days and days trying to convince her that she could just go ahead and buy it herself and rent it out, or any number of other crazy ideas just to hold onto the sale.

You have to realize, Real Estate Agents work strictly on commission, so if a deal falls through, they're up the proverbial creek without a paddle!

I know realtors work on commission, but I guess if I were a realtor, the way I'd look at it would be that if I back off and show compassion now, those individuals will be a lot more ready to call me again when they *are* ready to buy houses. If I act like a jerk, I may (or may not) get my one sale, but I also get bad word of mouth among all their friends!

That was kind of my mentality on it. I mean I realize they are on a commission. I would be more willing to return to one that wasnt pushy than I would one who made things impossible. But from the handful I have encountered, they dont do too badly. Always driving an expensive vehicle and tons of jewelry. Perhaps I am stereotyping, but the ones I have met dont seem to be hurting.

They do work on commission, but I hope your friend was able to do what she needed to do and get things worked out.
