Tithing

Do you believe it's okay to tithe while you are in debt? My husband and I have conflicting opinions on this issue so I thought I'd bring it to to my knowledgeable forum friends! I appreciate your opinions on the matter!

If you read what the Bible says, you can't afford NOT to tithe, regardless of the amount of money you have. In Malachi 3:10 the Bible says that the Israelites robbed God by NOT paying their tithes and giving offerings. So, if they wanted God's blessings (physical, mental, spiritual, etc.) then they needed to return to their practice of paying tithes. Then, God says, "Prove me (test me) in this, and see if I won't open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that your houses will not be able to contain them." (My paraphrase, I don't have my Bible out to quote exactly. This is pretty close, though.)
