Thank God, we don't have any credit cards. We paid off all of our credit cards in September 2005 and refuse to get another one. It's a struggle, but it's definitely worth it. I particularly like not having such outrageous interest rates and not having to pay for a $250 item over 14 years.

I do not blame you one bit. That is where I plan to get to. I do not want anymore.

Good for you! Just remember, if you can, pay off the lowest balance amount first. When you get that one paid off, take the payment you had for that card and add it to the amount you pay on the second lowest balance. It may take a while to do it, but you'll get there. Oh, and don't forget to close the account and shred the credit card so you're not tempted to use it again.

Number of Credit Cards?

I just have one. I keep it for emergencies and for online transactions, and I pay it off every single month.

I used to have five or six, all with big balances, and ended up having to file for bankruptcy when I got sick unexpectedly. I never want to deal with that situation again!

I have none. I got rid of them as quick as possible after having worked as a customer service representative for a credit card call center. I just saw so many crazy things. And it is virtually impossible to pay them off by just paying the minimum due.

I have three. Two Capitalone cards and one Visa. The Visa is through Target and those people are just EVIL! I hate those people and as soon as I get this paid off, I'm cutting it up!

I have a prepaid credit card which doesn't let me overcharge and ruin my credit. My husband has a secured credit card.

That is awesome to hear about the limit option on your cc. That should help.

I have no debt at all right now. I use two different credit cards with rewards, and I pay them off every month.
