you don't already have credit either. My husband tried to get a car loan at age 41 and since he had no credit established since we try to live within our budget, he couldn't get a loan at first either. When he finally got on, the interest rates are so outragous it could kill you. We are no paying back almost the same amount in interest as the amount for the car. If you don't have much, they want nothing to do with you.

Banks generally don't give loans or credit cards to people on low income because they are told they aren't allowed to (as far as I'm aware).

The ethics that guide the banking industry clearly state that it is unethical for a bank or lending institution to lend money or a line of credit to someone if they aren't sure they will be able to repay the loan as it will only increase their hardship and decrease their quality of life.
