Spam

I continue to get more and more spam every single day from payday lenders. I find it very annoying. I have even started going to the trouble to unsubscribe through their emails, and that seems to get me even more of them. Has anyone else figured out a way to stop the flood of recieving these offers? I took one payday loan online over a year ago, and now they wont leave me alone.

Don't reply to spam

Hey moonmagick (love your screen name, by the way!),

My computer geek friends have told me never to reply to spam. If you reply, they know they've found a "good" account, and they sell your email to other spammers so you keep getting more and more.

What I've done is set up a "dummy" account at Yahoo. That's the account I use on line, and that's where all my spam goes. I get about a hundred new messages every day, and I delete most of them without even opening them.

Only my friends, family, and people I work for have my real email address, and I've threatened all of them with the wrath of the spam goddess if they dare pass my email on to someone else without my consent. I still get a couple of spam items a day, but a couple is better than a hundred!

I pretty well follow the same routine. All of the spam goes to an e-mail address that I don't give to any of my family or friends. I rarely ever check this address because all messages are automatically deleted after 10 days...it saves me a lot of headaches! Do you already have a seperate account like this?

I have a few email accounts. One is strictly for spam, the one I use when I sign up for anything or order anything online. Unfortunately there is one that seems to be about 50/50 spam/personal emails and I hate to change it, its one I have had for years (you know, one of those where the friends that are constantly moving and changing emails still know where to reach you) So for the time being at least, on that one I go in daily and report the spam to keep it to a minimum in hopes that eventually it will cease and desist.

Once spammers think they've found a good address, they hold on like pit bulls, don't they?

A few years ago I had to give up an old email address when someone "hijacked" it and used it to send out a bunch of spam emails advertising pornography sites. I didn't know a thing about it until a friend alerted me, and when I found out, I was so mad I could have spit nails! Since then I'm very careful about my personal email.

I set up my filters and do not open any email from those I do not know. It helps some.
