Is leasing a vehicle really a good idea? The whole concept kind of confuses me, almost like it's a waste of money.

I've wondered about this option myself. One of the women I work with on my day job leases a car and says she comes out ahead financially, but I've heard from other people that it's not a good deal. It'll be interesting to see what other people on the forum think.

My husband is a car salesman (I know, ) Anyway, he is a major supporter of leasing. He swears it is the way to go. I have never leased a vehicle, my family lives a good distance away and it just doesn't seem practical to me with all the miles I put on, as well as I would feel like I was "renting" the car indefinitely and wouldn't feel comfortable making it my own. But according to him, if you like having a new car every couple of years, it is definitelty for you. Also, you can often get a lower payment. So I think it boils down to a matter of personal situation and what you prefer.
